Is that a video in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me? 75% say video!
With all due respect to Mae West’s (Look her up kids) question on what interesting thing may be in your pocket, today we know the answer is a mobile phone. There are now more phones than people on the planet and within four years over half of them will be data hungry smartphones according to a study just published by Cisco (link below). I’m always interested in the mobile revolution’s impact on the internet revolution. And I’m particularly interested in the role of video in the revolution. From Cisco:
Nearly three-fourths of the world’s mobile data traffic will be video by 2019. Mobile video will increase 13-fold between 2014 and 2019, accounting for 72 percent of total mobile data traffic by the end of the forecast period.
That’s a lot of video watching. Hopefully they’re not all cat videos.
We can expect that a healthy slice of this traffic will be social media marketing, brand marketings, product introductions, training, and support videos.
My question to you is how you plan to compete in this rapidly evolving market? But first, take stock of where you stand today. Take a few minutes to review the following:
- Does your website contain mobile friendly video content that targets your high value prospects?
- Do you have videos for all stages of your sales cycle?
- How old are the videos you posted to Youtube? How do they look today?
- Do your Youtube videos and website cross-reference each other?
It doesn’t take much to make a big improvement and any work you do today will help prepare for 2019 and beyond!
